As we say goodbye to June and hello to July- Disability Pride Month, there are many celebrations to join locally.
The Two Harbors Public Library and Above & Beyond With U are partnering on July 2nd for Civic Conversation: Disability in Our Community in the library meeting room from 12 noon until 1pm. No surveys. No comment box. Instead, a real conversation — with your neighbors, in your community, about the things that matter most. As America marks 250 years, the American Conversation Project (ACP) is bringing people together across the country to share stories, listen deeply, and strengthen the bonds that hold us together. Please pre-register at the front desk in person, or by calling or emailing. Attendees will receive a $25 gift card to compensate for their time. Refreshments will be provided.
On July 7th from 4-6PM, Above & Beyond With U and The Two Harbors Public Library collaborate again for an engaging time in the library meeting room. All members of our community are invited to enjoy connection, comradery, and crafting. We will screen a documentary on disability pride and work on a collaborative craft to be displayed through Heritage Days. Refreshments provided.
There is another chance to connect with Above & Beyond With U during Disability Pride Month in Two Harbors on Thursday, July 16th at the Two Harbors City Band Concert as they provide ice cream treats and share their mission.
July 26th, 2026 is the thirty-sixth anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act into law. To celebrate this on July 26th, Above & Beyond With U is partnering with Zeitgeist in Duluth for a screening of Crip Camp and another disability forward movie on July 28th. More details will be shared soon.
The Twin Ports Disability Pride gathering will be Wednesday, July 29th from 4-6pm in front of the Duluth City Hall. There will be many vendors, speakers, and times of connection. You can sign up for a free t-shirt online.
There are so many opportunities to engage with Disability Pride month this July! There are so many ways to increase accessibility and belonging as we celebrate our country and communities during the Fourth of July, Heritage Days, Bay Days, and more. Remember asking curious questions on how to offer support to neighbors and loved ones who are experiencing disability is the first step in making our places, spaces, and events more accessible.
